Michael

Dyson from Kirkburton

My name is Michael Blake. I am currently researching the Dyson family, which was one of the four main origins of my wife's family.  My wife is Brenda Heyworth (maiden name) and she was born in 1944.

Brenda's mother was Edna Brown d of John Brown and Alice Dyson. J and A married in Bolton in 1903. Alice in turn was the d of Harry Dyson (1855-1907) and he the son of Edmund Dyson (Kirkburton 1812- Lancashire 1870) and Mary Horn (1818-1861). Edmund's father was Joseph Dyson and he I think was born about 1781 in West Yorks and died in about 1862, I think in Kirkburton.

After that online information becomes very messy. In fact I think some people have got their information mixed up - after all there were/are a lot of Dysons in the Kirkburton area. What I cannot clarify is who was the 'Elizabeth' that Joseph married (from Lepton I think), and what other children did they have besides Edmund. I have got Martha, George and Hannah, but I am not confident about this. Websites also suggest there were other children who may have died young.

Can you confirm any of those earlier details for me, or point me in the right direction to find out?

Maggie

John Hemingway Woodhead born 1842, Shelf, Yorkshire.  He married Jane Allerton and has a family in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland.
His children are Mary E, Susannah I, Flora and Emily.
What started all this was I got a newspaper clipping for a Decapitation at Grantham March 30, 1899, of a John Hemingway Woodhead, lately carrying on business there as a builder and contractor.
Most of the census I have on John Hemingway Woodhead, lists him as a joiner, builder.  Also on his daughter Flora's marriage cert. he is listed as a builder contractor.
What I can't find is his death notice and I can't find him in the 1901 census.
His wife Jane in 1901, is living with daughter Susannah and lists herself as married?
In 1911, Jane the wife is living with the daughter Emily, and lists herself as married?
Did he die?
Is there a site for coroner investigations?
The story I was sent said it was in the Yorkshire Herald and The York Herald.  Can anyone search these newspapers and find another article on this Decapitated at Grantham story, March 30, 1899?
John Hemingway Woodhead is a common name in my Woodhead's.  The first is born, 1806, Shelf, Yorkshire. (son of Peter Woodhead and Susannah Hemingway) His son is 1842, and his grandson, I believe is 1906.
Any help would be appreciated.
